Amazing trip in the Tweed Valley, 4 days of brilliant trails and expertly guided by Craig. Great location as well based from the Glentress Hotel.

E Bikes in the Tweed Valley just make sense! The Tweed Valley is home to some of the finest Mountain Bike trails anywhere in Europe having hosted the Enduro World Series for the past few years! We have operated our traditional Enduro trips out of this mountain bike mecca for several years and the E-bike version is just as good, if not better.

The valley is steep with punchy climbs and punchy descents, we use that e-bike power to save our legs and get a few extra laps in or tackle a big adventure before the pub calls! With charging points at the hotel along with an E-Bike rental fleet we have all the bases covered for this awesome E-Bike trip in the Tweed Valley.

E-Bikes in the Tweed Valley are superb

Our E-Bikes will take us all over the Tweed Valley from the vast trail center of Glentress only meters from the accommodation door to the more remote areas in the East of the valley. We will ride everything from the steep and technical trails of the Golfie to the fast, flowing and endless trails of Yair forest. This trip allows us to ride the best of the best in the Tweed Valley without our legs giving up on us, it allows us to go further and enjoy more of an adventure on certain days. We pass on the Innerleithen uplift and visit the local trails off the beaten track.

This is our sample itinerary, it can change due to several factors but should give you a good idea of what the trip entails.

If you wish to stay at the accommodation the night before the trip starts as you have travelled from far or like to have a lie in we can do this for you no problem. Please just let us know.

You can expect anything between 1000 - 14000 metres of climbing and 35 - 50k distance each day!

Day 1

Glentress - With breakfast at 8am everyday, on the Thursday Morning we will head out to warm up and get the blood flowing. Pedalling straight out of the accommodation you are in the Glentress trail centre within seconds. A 10 minute pedal up to the buzzards nest through the forest is first then a steep climb to the top of the hill where the longest trail of the day awaits you. Getting up to speed and feeling that confidence is the aim of the morning with time to discuss any coaching bits people want to work on. After several awesome trails in the morning we will return to the hotel for lunch and this gives us a great opportunity to check the bikes and grab some food, even to add a little extra charge into them. After lunch, we will head back to the buzzards nest were then you will head off into the forest to explore some of the real hidden gems that the Glentress trail centre hides! With an epic decent to finish the day including some of the 2014 Enduro World Series race tracks straight back into the accommodation for beers!

Day 2

The Golfie - The hill with the biggest reputation in the Valley! A big day with some big trails, you can expect anything between 1000-1300 metres of climbing with a lot more descending thrown in. The iconic trails of the Golfie will be on the hit list in the morning before lunch at local cafe. The afternoon holds more off piste treats with some wild descents, one which might include a Pony, before a quick pedal back to the accommodation for a well deserved rest but not before a dip in the river if you are brave enough!

Day 3

Today we explore the natural trails in the upper Tweed Valley - A perfect mix of old school trails and modern Enduro style riding. Getting away from the masses at the trail centres and climbing up to the classic Gypsy Glen route (537Mtrs) to start a 2k singletrack descent surrounded by purple heather all the way back to Peebles.  A swift coffee and cake stop before tackling the John Buchan way climb up to the old Roman hill fort that marks the start of the Cademuir ridge. After completing the ridge we ride some more hidden single track through the woods and over the Neidpath viaduct (1864) back to town along the stunning River Tweed path under the historic 12th century Neidpath castle. As we enter back into Peebles we pass the local river swimming spot of the “Dookits”. This is a great place to cool off before a refreshing post ride pint and the delights of visiting the best whisky shop in South Scotland.

Day 4

Locals only - We have a look at the weather and check in with the group as to how everyone is feeling after three pretty big days on the bike, but this final day could hold some of the best trails in the valley so it's well worth the last push. Have we saved the best to last..maybe. This is where the locals go to escape the masses and it's incredible. You will ride until 12:30 and then we pack up and head home! If you want to hang around and ride more then the Glentress trails are only metres away from the accommodation and ready to ride!

Included in the price is all your travel whilst on the trip with us in Scotland and we can also arrange airport / train pick up at an additional cost. If you are planning to self drive there is parking at the accommodation and as we will be based here for the duration of the trip you car will be safe and secure without need to be moved.

If you are flying up to us then the closest airport is Edinburgh just under 1 hrs drive.

Our nearest railway station is Borders Railway in Galashiels, just 18-miles away.

Caledonian Sleeper - - A very popular service with a late evening departure from London and and early morning arrival into Aviemore. Depart London 21:15 Arrive Aviemore 07:40 ready for coffee and bikes! £170 ish

  • Advised bike - 150mm - 180mm Enduro bike *
  • Fitness - 3*
  • Skills and Technical ability - 3*
  • Riding Style - All Natural / Spirit of Adventure

The riding standard and fitness level required to ride the Tweed Valley trip is of an intermediate/advanced standard. We have E-Bike but these are not a replacement for fitness they simply allow us to ride that extra trails, that extra climb and make sure we are ready for the next day!

This man loves nothing more than charging the steep and technical descents of the valley on his hardtail ( he's made from granite ) but don't let that fool you into thinking he's a slouch on the up's..oh no. He knows the valley inside out and has a few stories up his sleeve also. An awesome guide who will instal confidence in you through your trip!
