This E-Bike tour of the Cairngorm national park is a real adventure, crossing the only sub-arctic wilderness in the UK and a mountain range including five of the UK highest peaks. We will explore the ancient Caledonian forest of the Eastern Cairngorm and ride to the summit of Ben Macdui at 1309 meters! During day two we ride one of the UK's longest single track descents as we traverse the Cairngorm range before a well deserved post ride beer in Royal Deeside.

The E-Bikes make easy work of the climbs to the grouse moors and the start of long granite ridge-lines. Aberdeenshire provides views across Lochangar, the Queen's Mountain, and Balmoral Castle where we set up for a run on legendary Heart Break Ridge trail with a special e-bike extension.

The Cairngorms in bloom is truly stunning

Exploring the Cairngorms National Park by E-Bike really opens up trails and areas that you simply would not be able to access in a day unless you are superhuman!

What's Included

  • 4 Day's of guided riding in the heart of the Cairngorms national park.
  • Professional guides with a 4-1 client ratio
  • 4 Nights stunning Scottish B/B accommodation in Twin rooms
  • Hearty, cooked breakfasts with local ingredients and Deli packed lunches
  • Transport for the duration of the trip with pick up and drop off options available
  • Secure bike storage, charging points and bike wash down station and works area with stand, brushes, tools and pump.

E-Bikes are not included but we can help with hire and have our own fleet of Specialized Levo SL's.

You and your E-Bike will tackle this epic Cairngorms MTB trip, being one of the tougher Scotland Mountain bike trips we offer and suited to being a high intermediate / advanced rider which will enable you to really experience these trails at their very best. You should be happy riding technical single track, rocky descents with big and occasionally loose boulders all the way through to Caledonian pine needle strewn forest trails. Your E-Bike will assist you on the climbs but it will not magic you to the top! There will be some decent hours spent in the saddle taking in this stunning landscape.

Day 0: Arrival Day

Arrive and relax, meet and greet from your guides and bike set up and tinker time. If we have time a cheeky loop local to the guest house taking in sme of the local trails. Dinner and trip brief commences!
Day 1: Sgor Gaoith High Mountain Descents   (59km, 2300m descent).
Our first full day's riding takes on descents from Sgor Goaith, a Scottish munro that towers over the picturesque Glen Feshie. These are classic high mountain trails falling over 700m on continuous single track from the plateau, with views over the Cairngorms, to the forest below. We'll make full use of our ebikes climbing capability to complete this loop and save our own energy for roaring descents on water bars, boulders and switch-backs.
Day 2: Cairngorms Traverse - Aviemore to Braemar 53km, 1500m
This is an epic traverse of the Cairngorms, crossing the only sub-arctic wilderness in the UK and a mountain range including 5 of the UK highest peaks - not to mention one of the UK's longest single track descents. After a gentle trundle through the lower pine forest, conserving battery life here, we climb Cairngorm Mountain above its Ski Centre. Then a bit of boost, a bit of boulder hopping and bit of walk mode to reach the summit of Ben Macdui. Even the 360 degree panorama from the top does not prepare you for the rapid loss of height on gnarly granite trail that leads all the way to the River Dee.  More steady descent takes us to a well earned stop in the cafes and pubs of Braemar
Day 3: Eastern Cairngorms, Beinn A'Bhuird  38km, 1300m

This route starts on rolling single track through the ancient Calendonian forest of the Eastern Cairngorms. Technical, precise climbing, with just the right balance of torque and traction, on the stalkers' paths brings us to the base of Beinn A'Bhuird, the table hill. The trail contours on to the summit where there are mind-blowing views over the corries and lochs back towards our start point far below. After taking in the view and exploring the rocky tors on the summit, we'll set up for the longest descent of the week; eventually reaching a bothy and swimming spot at the head of the river Dee for a rest and cool down..

Day 4: Royal Deeside, Heart Break Ridge and Beyond 60km, 1800m

Ballater, a hotspot for Aberdeenshire's mountain biking, is our base for this day.  From the picturesque town square, we'll warm up and try some granite slab test pieces overlooking the river and the lochs. Ebikes make easy work of the climbs on to the grouse moors an the start of trails on long granite ridge-lines. The views live up to Aberdeenshire's strap line - from the mountains to the sea. Then its full throttle, enduro descent, and back to the village for lunch. We'll make a southern loop in the afternoon, this time with views across Lochangar, the Queen's Mountain, and Balmoral Castle. This sets us up for a run on legendary local trail Heart Break Ridge, with a special e-bike extension.

Included in the price is all your travel whilst on the trip with us in Scotland and including collection and drop off from Aviemore train station. There’s no getting around it, 7 mountain bikers will be pretty conspicuous and we’ll have some impact on the landscape and other trail users. As a company, we’re 100% committed to minimising our impact in every way we can. We operate a strict ‘pack it out’ policy for all litter (including banana skins and orange peel), and we try to leave as little trace of our passing as possible. While we’ll enjoy some epic descents and trails, please ride in control and at a speed that reflects your line of sight and abilities. We’ll certainly meet walkers and we want any interactions to be as positive as possible. It’s important to give mountain bikers a good name.

Holiday Insurance

It is essential and a required part of your booking process that you have holiday insurance in place for your trip that covers against medical and personal accident and all the activities including mountain biking you will take part in.

We have worked with Yellow Jersey Cycle insurance for the past 3 years now and feel they offer the perfect Travel and Bike insurance package. All MTB Beds clients also receive a 10% discount on their Mountain Bike and Travel policies. Your discount code will be in your booking confirmation.
