If you have booked your Summer 2016 MTB holiday to Morzine or any of the 12 resorts in the Portes Du Soleil area you will want to know the lift opening dates and the prices of the lift passes, the good news is there has been no increase from last year. A 6 day Portes Du Soleil lift pass still only costs €98, that is amazing value for money considering a winter 6 day pass is over €200.

So the big news is that Morzine and the Pleney lift will open on the 11th June, that is a week earlier than last year and we believe it's due to the Crankworx event over in Les Gets. the Pleney lift provides direct access to Les Gets via the MTB trails and the provides a great link to watch the competition if you don't have a car.

Les Gets and Mt Chery will also open from the 11th June with early weekend opening dates on the 28/29th May and 4/5th June. The Les Gets Bike Park is always a welcome warm up after the long winter months, however this summer with the Crankworx event on the 15th-19th June there wont be much warm up time at all, lets hope the snow has melted by then!

The full Portes Du Soleil area opens on the 24th June as normal for the huge Passportes MTB race and stays open until the 27th August, we hope this will be extended to the 04th September however.

Latest mountain biking News and Events

The mountain bike trails of Le Pleney in Morzine are world famous and for very good reason. This little hill with 600 metres of elevation holds some of the most technical, steep, rooty, flat out tracks you can find anywhere in Europe, if not in the world.

So I guess the first question is, who is Fergus Ryan? I am 25 years old and I am the marketing manager for MTB Beds. I have been racing since I was 16, starting in Downhill before turning my focus to enduro 2 years ago. I love all things two-wheeled and pushing my limits both physically and mentally when it comes to racing.

A buzzing ski resort packed full of restaurants, bars and alpine culture, Morzine's restaurant scene was once a fairly drab affair in Summer, owners preferring to take the time off or open softly with a minimal menu and hours. Not so now with Summer offering new opportunities, new ingredients, new menus and new, sunny terraces breathing new life into the town. This is driven by the young generation of Morzinoise and British owners who are ready to move with the times.
