Mont Chery is a mountain steeped in history. It's hosted World Cups since the mid nineties, World Championships, Crankworx and also boastes some of the best riding in the Portes du Soleil. It has tried over the years to build on the famous Dans le Gaz trail with a jump line to raise the bar of the riding in the resort, until now the Mont Chery Airline has been a work in progress, it looks like they have cracked the code.

The berms look world class

Sponsored by Oakley, the as yet un named version of this trail is due to open at the UCI MTB World Championships, end of August 22. It's been tough going with the baking hot sun during a summer heat wave for the record books and severe drought warnings meaning a lack of water, meaning there maybe some delays in cutting the tape.

Les Gets Airling on Mont Chery

It will be worth the wait though, opening with a qualifier drop of around 2.5 metres you'll be catapulted into this new line, which is more of flowY jump trail than an all out huck fest. There are doubles but the take offs and landings are smooth, the maximum length built so far is around 6 metres.

After the qualifier drop you'll hit the first of the gap jumps before dipping into a compression and boosting out of a left hand hip, which will see plenty of photography action due to it's epic Mont Blanc backdrop. Berm, berm, berm and you'll then transition to the next section into the woods.

Hips, gaps and flow from top to bottom

Dropping in again you'll boost another couple of jumps and huge berms before connecting up with Dans Le Gaz. The trail will finish here for 2022 before being picked up again for next year.

The Les Gets trail crew are really pushing the boat out with this one. Every year we see them get better and we can;t wait to send this new line to sound off the summer season!

If you haven't ridden Morzine this year there is still time, drop us an email on info@mtbbeds.com and we'll see what we can do for you before the lifts close!
