Morzine Autumn trail work update - with winter fully underway in the UK, the rides become muddier and the clean-up takes longer. While we’ve all been dreaming of those late evenings and dusty Morzine trails, the trail teams in the Portes Du Soleil have been hard at work since the lifts closed prepping the trails ready for the 2023 summer.

Summer 2022 was dry and hot across most of Europe, and Morzine was no exception. With virtually no rain all summer long, making holiday conditions prime, the trails took a beating. It’s almost impossible to fix up trails when everything is dust as it just doesn’t bind together, so the interseason has been crucial for the trail teams to get to work. And get to work they have done!

Our sister company, Atlas Ski Co, is pumped that snow is starting to fall, and here at MTB Beds we are too as this provides much needed moisture and compression/weight on freshly built trails to pack them in nice and firm ready for the first tyre tracks of 2023.

Who’s counting down the days?!

Pleney Mainline

A favourite spot for anyone travelling to Morzine and the Portes Du Soleil means Pleney Mainline receives its fair share of traffic, and understandably so as the lift is straight from town and directly at the end of the trail, so lap after lap after lap is on the itinerary of most visiting Morzine.

In saying this, Pleney Mainline is usually really well maintained, which is even more impressive given the small trail team fighting against the tide of traffic. Credit where credit is due, these guys deserve some praise.

Onto some of the updates this landmark trail of Morzine has received. One of the more iconic features of Mainline, along with 10%, is the wooden double near the top which launches riders into the woods, which has had a full re-shape for 2023. There have also been some fresh berms built, which look so damn inviting.

Avoriaz MTB / Super Morzine

The sun-kissed slopes of Super Morzine are home to some of the flowiest trails around. Maintained by Avoriaz MTB, and including the areas of Avoriaz, Les Lindarets, Serraseux and Super Morzine, the berms and jumps have all had a major glow up, being resurfaced and reshaped, leaving them looking like perfection.

Hattock trail, a crowd-pleaser amongst the MTB Beds guests, has fast, technical root sections as well as monster jumps and fun features which have received yet another makeover after being worked on in the 2021 interseason too. See below pics for some trail teasers…

Champery-Morgins

Found on the Swiss side of the border from Morzine, Champery-Morgin bike park has been the filming location for some of the raddest edits, with Vinny T’s Morgin edit, as well as World Cup racer and MTB Beds guest Neko Mulally’s edit from his time with us.

Champery-Morgins and Les Crosets are always well-maintained and we’re sure 2023 will be no different, so no excuses for not going as fast as Neko?!

Chatel Bike Park

Chatel Bike Park is home to some of the biggest jumps in the area, as well as the iconic Vink Line. Due to the lack of rain preventing regular trail work this summer, Chatel developed more brake bumps than usual, but these have all been smoothed out by the dig team - and boy what a job they’ve done! Along with trail maintenance, they’ve built new features, including a North Shore piece of trail art.

Have you booked for 2023?

It doesn’t seem that long ago that we packed up our Morzine chalets and relocated to Finale Ligure, but the whole Autumn Finale season has been and gone, and it won’t be long until we’re back at our spiritual home of Morzine in 2023.

Are you joining us? Bookings are coming in fast, so get yourself booked into our Riders Week and come ride with us - we’ll take care of lift passes and your chef-prepared meals, leaving you to just concentrate on the important stuff!

With luxuries like hot tubs, saunas and an on-site mechanic, a Riders Week package is a true holiday, just with more bikes, which is a win-win in our eyes!

If self-catering is more your thing, we’ve got you covered, either in budget-friendly accommodation like Apartment Divaria, starting at around £130 per week per person, or maybe Apartment Zore or Encoches if you want a home-from-home experience. Morzine has so many places to eat and drink, self-catering can be a great way to explore the town.
